Presenters: Members of the Study Group
This presentation summarizes the Study Group’s research on Cajsa Andersdotter. The year-long research project centered on the book, The World of Cajsa Andersdotter: A Close-Up View of Sweden in the 18th and 19th Centuries. This non-fiction book, which follows the life of an impoverished Swedish family, includes detailed accounts of that family drawn from historical documents. The overall purpose of this project was to teach SGSC members how to do Swedish research and about Swedish history. The group, which met monthly, took a deep dive into Swedish church, court and land records. It also learned how Sweden’s culture and historical events impacted the lives of ancestors.
