Case Study: Parents for Kierstin Pehrsdotter, 1655-1725

  • Bethany Lutheran Church 4500 East Hampden Avenue Cherry Hills Village, CO, 80113 United States (map)

Hybrid (in-person and Zoom)

Presenter: Jill Morelli, CG, CGL, Certified Genealogist, lecturer, and writer

Direct evidence of the parents Kierstin Phersdotter is absent from the records. Even with records in short supply, clues exist that point to a reasonable conclusion. Four techniques will illustrate how to solve this tough genealogical problem: hypothesis building; same-named men studies; cluster research and the use of syllogisms. The study also illustrates the Genealogical Proof Standard. The personal research report will serve as the syllabus, which was submitted as part of the author's submission for renewal of her credential of Certified Genealogist. One judge thought the case had not been proven. You be the judge!
