Program: | Fika on Zoom |
Presenter: | Kjell Andersson, SGSC Member, Research & Mentoring Chair |
SGSC member Gini Mansfield was scheduled to meet with Kjell at Fika in Parker on March 14, 2020. That event was “postponed” due to the emerging pandemic. At long last, Kjell’s findings are presented publicly!
Here is Gini’s original research request:
Johanna Britta Andersdotter is my 2x great grandmother. She was born 29 Feb 1836 Varberg, Halland, Sweden to Anders Andersson and Anna Lena Andersdotter. She married Bengt August Magnusson on 22 Dec 1861 in Varberg. After the birth of 8 children, she emigrated to Middlebury, CT, alone, to join 7 of her sons in 1901.
Her husband Bengt died in Varberg on 27 Mar 1904. Johanna died 31 Jan 1918 in Middlebury, CT. I have only found her father Anders Andersson listed on baptismal records for his daughter Johanna. Johanna’s mother Anna Lena Andersdotter is listed as 24 years old, making her born in about 1812.
With so many similar names in records, it is confusing! Can you help me find Johanna’s parents?
Follow along as Kjell explains his research process and findings. Take away valuable tips that you can apply to your own research.
